N.K.F.F.A. LEGAL BATTLE
In March of 2012, the North Kingstown Town Council implemented an illegal ordinance changing the structure of the North Kingstown Fire Department from a 4 platoon/ 42 Average hour work week to a 3 platoon/ 56 average hour work week. Since that time, both the North Kingstown Firefighters-Local 1651 and the Town of North Kingstown have been embroiled in a legal dispute over this issue.  This multi year, multi facetted legal battle has been, and continues to be entertained by the RI Superior Court, RI Supreme Court and RI Department of Labor.  The issues are still ongoing as we try to resolve the illegal actions of the North Kingstown Town Council.  In conjunction with this ongoing legal dispute, the North Kingstown Firefighters -Local 1651 and the Town of North Kingstown are in the process of several years of arbitrations (2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15)
